Short answer
How much is the CLAT 2027 application fee?
The CLAT 2027 UG application fee is ₹4,000 for General and OBC candidates and ₹3,500 for SC, ST, BPL and PwD candidates. You pay it online while submitting the application, which closes on 31 October 2026 at 11:59 p.m. The fee is non-refundable.
CLAT 2027 fee by category
| Category | Application fee |
|---|---|
| General, OBC | ₹4,000 |
| SC, ST, BPL, PwD | ₹3,500 |
To pay the lower fee you must belong to one of those categories. Keep your category certificate ready, because certificates are checked at admission. The step-by-step form is in our registration guide.
What is extra, and what is optional
The application fee is the amount the Consortium charges to apply. Two other costs can appear:
- Past years’ question papers, ₹500. The Consortium sells these separately. They are optional and are not part of the application fee. You do not need them to apply.
- Bank or payment-gateway charges. The candidate bears these, so the amount leaving your account can be a little higher than the fee shown.
Can I get the CLAT fee refunded?
No. The official instructions describe the fee as non-refundable and non-adjustable. Plan on the basis that it will not be returned or set against another payment, whatever happens afterwards.
What if I apply more than once?
If you submit multiple applications, only the latest is considered, and the fees paid for earlier ones are not refunded. Submit one complete application rather than starting again.
How do I pay the CLAT fee?
The application is made online, and paying the fee is one step of it. The full sequence is in our registration guide. Keep the payment confirmation and a PDF of the submitted form.
Do not leave payment to the last evening. A failed transaction near the deadline is hard to fix, and the instructions say the programme, category and BPL details cannot be changed once you have submitted and paid, so check them before you pay.
When is the last date to pay?
The fee must be paid as part of the application, so the deadline is the application deadline: 31 October 2026, 11:59 p.m. The other dates in the cycle are on our important dates page.
What the fee does not cover
The application fee is for taking the exam. Costs after the result, such as admission and counselling charges, are set by the Consortium and the individual universities and are announced separately. This page does not list them. For how that stage works, see the counselling process.
