CLAT Registration: Dates, Fees and the Form, Step by Step

Applications for CLAT 2027 close on 31 October 2026 at 11:59 p.m. The fee is ₹4,000, or ₹3,500 for SC, ST, BPL and PwD candidates.

CLAT 2027 applications close on 31 October 2026 at 11:59 p.m. The form is submitted online through the Consortium of NLUs website, and complete the form, payment and final submission before the deadline.

The fee is non-refundable. If you want past years’ question papers with the application, the published additional charge is ₹500 — an optional extra, not a requirement.

What you need before you start

Prepare the listed documents before opening the form. The published instructions specify PDF uploads; follow the portal’s current file-size requirements.

  • A recent passport-size photograph
  • Your signature
  • Category certificate — SC, ST, OBC — if claiming reservation
  • PwD certificate, if applicable
  • BPL certificate, if applicable
  • A valid mobile number and email address you will still have access to next year

The steps

  1. Register with your name, mobile number and email. Validate the mobile number using the OTP and retain the password you set.
  2. Fill in personal and academic details. Take care with your name and date of birth: check them against your certificates, marksheets and identity proof.
  3. Complete the fields the current application asks for. Do not assume the exam form and later counselling preferences are the same step.
  4. Select test centres, in order of preference.
  5. Upload documents in the specified formats and sizes.
  6. Pay the fee online.
  7. Submit, and save a PDF of the completed form.

Things that go wrong

Leaving it to the last day. Allow time to resolve upload or payment problems rather than relying on the final evening.

A name mismatch. Check the spelling of your and your parents’ names against the relevant official documents. A middle name included in one and omitted in the other causes problems much later, at admission.

An email you will lose. Use one you will still have in twelve months, not a school address that expires.

Assuming every field can be changed later. The published instructions say the programme, category and BPL field cannot be changed after submission and payment. They also disallow updates after applications close.
